Leaf supports the Dorset Cancer Centre in the following ways: - equipment for the wards and grants of up to £400 for a member of the medical team to help them gain more knowledge on blood cancers.

The ward clerk will normally contact us with a written request, stating how the equipment or course will benefit the hospital, medical teams and the patients.

The Durlston Ward is one of two in-patient wards in the Cancer Centre at Poole Hospital. It specialises in the care of patients with haematological (blood) cancers and stem cell transplants in addition to other forms of cancer. It is situated on the lower ground floor level of the Cancer Centre and is accessed via entrance 6 and 8. The ward is managed by the Ward Sister and is overseen by the Modern Matron for Oncology, they have 16 beds arranged as either single rooms or two bedded rooms, each has its own en-suite shower and toilet facilities. The ward has a pleasant day room where patients can relax, watch television or listen to music. There is a kitchen/dinning room where patients can sit for meals. The pateints and vistors can sit and relax in the private cancer centre garden. The ward has portable DVD players and CD players which patients can borrow during their admission. Though fundraising Leaf have provided some of the equipment, that goes towards making each patients stay more comfortable.
